  FWC Members can enjoy a discovery-filled weekend as the London Museum celebrates the world of mudlarking in all its muddy glory, with expert talks, a free-to-visit object showcase with mudlarks and their fascinating collections, and much more.

  From international trade and global exchange to the lives of workers, tradespeople and everyday Londoners who lived and worked along its banks, discover the many ways the Thames has shaped London’s history through talks by iconic mudlarks Dr Alessio Checconi and Nicola White.

  Mudlarking weekend is part of the Totally Thames Festival celebrations.

Enjoy a warm and engaging guided tour led by a Chelsea Pensioner, offering a rare chance to explore parts of the Royal Hospital Chelsea that are usually closed to the public.   The Churchill War Rooms is one of the five branches of the Imperial War Museum.

  The museum comprises the Cabinet War Rooms, a historic underground complex that housed a British government command centre throughout the Second World War, and the Churchill Museum, a biographical museum exploring the life of Winston Churchill.

  Construction of the Cabinet War Rooms, located beneath the Treasury building, began in 1938. They became fully operational on 27 August 1939, one week before Britain declared war on Germany. The War Rooms remained in operation throughout the Second World War, before being abandoned in August 1945 after the surrender of Japan.

  Followed by a visit to the Horse and Guardsman Pub from 5.00pm where you can order food and drink as required at your own expense to round off this enjoyable and fun visit.

  We are delighted to announce that we have a very special evening members event coming up soon with Sir David Wootton who - amongst many other things is - a former Common Councillor of Farringdon Within, former President of the Farringdon Ward Club and former Lord Mayor.  He remains active in many fields, a true City leader - just glance at his Wikipedia entry.
  
  The format of the evening will be a relaxed "fireside chat" with our President, David Selves, with a Q&A afterwards.  There will also be an opportunity to eat, drink and "break bread" at the famous Punch tavern with its beautiful Victorian decor. The food is superb as this menu shows with a cash Bar until 10.00pm:
